FASHION SPREADS
In this section of Vogue, the editors define what is trending this season by creating a series of photos including models in high fashion clothing items. These images are very made up and represent the ideal, trendy women. There were two fashion spreads in this issue of Vogue and I decided to focus on just one because its is longer than the other.
Analysis: Sparkle and Shine
This fashion spread shows the dressy looks for the winter season. It makes a point, like in this photograph, to show the model's jewelry and highlight the importance of power in wealth. The models are shown laughing and having a good time which communicates that materialism leads to happiness. All of the models in this photoshoot have very similar hair and a uniformity to them, reinforcing the rigid beauty guidelines that the media presents of women.

This article contains one woman of color model in their photoshoot. The model is shown with more clothing covering her than any of the white models, which it telling women of color that their bodies are not as "sexy" as white women and they must be covered up. She is also wearing much more colorful clothing than the white women which shows that she is more exotic and diverse than them.
The models in this spread are very skinny and reinforce the idea that skinny is beautiful. The subconscious messages that this spread communicates for women is unhealthy and leads them to self-objectify and feel negatively about their bodies and themselves.
